Thanks for your question and it is interesting how the Mizuno MX 200 iron went so much further with the same shaft. When we do our custom fitting sessions and our video reviews we try and use the TrackMan Launch Monitor. Using TrackMan means we will only get true and accurate reading as it is a tour standard launch monitor. There might be launch monitors out there that can be set up in a way that makes a club look like it goes further than it really does, but no good retailer will use those tactics.

As for the Mizuno MX 200 irons going so much further than your old iron with the same shaft would make me feel like you should be buying them yesterday. You need to hold in mind that you will hit the ball different from day to day, so to give you piece of mind it would be worth having another demo.

The forging in the MX 200 iron should help with control and feel and distance should not be affected so much. Do remember that the Mizuno MX 200 irons have a good amount of weight at the bottom of the head along with the Y-Tune which will always make any off centre toe strike fly further than other irons.

Please keep the questions coming, if you need any help or would like to talk about what clubs are best for you please call 01392 493196 or watch my video reviews.

Great video Mark. I like the sound of the Titleist 909 D3 Driver in your video. I will certainly be getting a trial with one of those. I prefer the idea that the ball flight is lower and the head is smaller.

It should suit my game as my home club is a links course and its always a fight to keep the ball down in flight.

I recently went to Mizuno's national custom fit centre to get fitted for a set of Mizuno MX 200's. I currently own a set of Macgregor MT Mid irons that have been fitted with the stock Nippon NS Pro 950GH shafts. As the Mizuno rep took me through the process it became evident from the stats as well as feel that the same shaft would be best in the MX 200's. To my amazement I was gaining nearly 20 yards with my 6 iron in the MX 200's & with the same shaft. My swing speed with my Macgregors had an average of 80 mph & with the mizuno's I had an average of 78 mph (average distance of 168 yards with a mx 200 6 iron). This was prior to being fitted for lie angle etc & was purely for the right shaft to be fitted.

Can you let me know if this is possible as I'm hitting the MX 200's 20 yards further but with the same shaft & a slightly slower swing speed? Can this massive gain be purely to the change of the head & is it because the MX 200's are forged?

Apologies as I'm a little sceptical lately in regards to custom fitting as I've heard that some stores are tampering with the machines during the fitting process in order for the customer to believe that their hitting the new clubs a lot further/straighter.

Many thanks for your time Mark - Need to know before I place my order with Mizuno. Regards & have a good Christmas.

Mind blowing review, I never thought there ws so much to it. So If I want to stay dry then I'm Better off with a Galvin Green Waterproof Gore tex jacket?? The paclite is not quite as good as the Gore tex. Would you agree or will they both keep out the rain.

Mark

I had a fitting for the Mizuno MX200 Irons and I would be interested if you can suggest comparable irons from other manufacturers. I was delighted with the MX200 but would like to consider other options prior to buying

Great reviews Galvin Green,as I carry I think I will invest in a paclite waterproof as it folds down into a small space. Is it the best one if you carry. Could you let me know.

So if I am correct you feel that even tough the Bushnell V2 tour is the the most compact of the Bushnell range you would go for the Bushnell 1500 Tournament range finder as it is ever so slightly morre accurate??

Hello Mark,

How would you compare the MX 200 with the MP 52?

I'm assuming the blade length on the 52 is the same as on the 57 , and the 200 is the same as the 25?

I'm hesitant to go with the 200 because I hit the ball high, but then the 52 seem to be much less forgiving.

As I only get to play/practice 1 or twice a week anymore I like the idea of more forgiveness.

I wish Mizuno would make a forgiving iron which launches low :)
